Checklist: How to Transform Your Closet From Winter to Spring

By Georgina Nicholos on February 20, 2017

Depending on where you live, this winter may have been super confusing; being from Indiana, for us this winter was more like a mix between fall and spring.

Regardless if this is the case for you, I’m here to tell you how to mix, match, and transform your closet from winter fashion to spring fashion. More so, I’m here to provide you a few rules on how to alter your wardrobe without going out and buying new clothes for no reason.

1. Don’t put away those boots!

Boots can most definitely be utilized during these upcoming spring months. From riding and rain boots to the many different colored Timberland’s that currently exist, boots can be worn with dresses, shorts, and pants.

2. Colored tees are the way to go!

White, pink, blue, green, yellow, orange, purple … need I go on? They’re all in, and they’re all a GO! When we hear the word spring, we think of flowers, and in a way, the name just makes us feel beautiful.

3. If they said black was out, it’s definitely still in!

Dark colors are your friend, even during this spring season. Don’t feel the need to put away all dark colors just because spring is the season of colors. Black and other dark colors like maroon, navy, and gray, will always be in. Hear that? Yes, always. Particularly for those of us who have a job that requires us to wear dark, basic colors.

4. Vests and sweaters: not yet!

Along with boots, vests and sweaters are still a GO, especially when you want to wear a dress, shorts, or a nice shirt. This includes puffy vests and fuzzy sweaters, too. Fashion is all about being creative and it’s okay to use winter pieces to transition into spring.

This is all about mixing and matching, here. Let’s face it, we’re college students and not everyone can afford to buy a whole new wardrobe for the upcoming spring months. The better way to go about this is by mixing and matching winter clothes with spring clothes and making amazing outfits out of everything we can use!

This also depends on where you live because some places warm up quicker than others. Try Pinterest and Instagram to pull some ideas. To make things even more unique or fun, try borrowing from your roommates! I would say so long winter but it’s not gone yet and my clothes aren’t going anywhere!
